Jailhouse Tears

Lucinda Williams: Not recorded to my knowledge, but played in concert several times in 2007
This song is a duet for a man and a woman; Parts are shown.

She plays it in Eb – here shown with capo on 6th fret.

Chorus:
             D E A
She: I’m crying, jailhouse tears
			D	E A
and I’ve been trying all these years
				    D	E
Been trying to ride things out
				A
	but now I’m shifting gears
			D E A
and we’re both crying jailhouse tears

				D E
He: They say I broke the law
		           A
	now everything is broken down
                           D E
She: babe I know what I saw
	                   A
	I know you went downtown.

                       D E
He:	I went to the corner
	                    A
to get a cold six pack
                                D E
She:	You’re a drunk you’re a stoner
	                  A
	you never came back.

                       D E
He:	They locked me up
                          A
	and you locked me out
                              D E
She: You tried to steal my truck, but
                                  A
That’s not what this is about

                        D E
He: I used to be a user
                              A
but now I’m all out of stuff
                         D E
She: You’re a 3 time loser
                          A
	you’re all fucked up

Chorus: He and She together
            D E A
	I’m crying, jailhouse tears
			D	E A
and I’ve been trying all these years
				    D	E
Been trying to ride things out
				A
	but now I’m shifting gears
			D E A
and we’re both crying jailhouse tears

Guitar Solo
                               D E
He: I’ll prove it to you somehow
	                     A
       	I’m done with every bit
                           D E
look at me, I’m clean now

			    A
She: you’re so full of shit

                            D E
He:	I swear I will tell all
	                    A
	look in my dresser drawers

                           D E
She: Now I’m behind the 8-ball
		        A
	you’re behind bars.

Well, I have seen her playing with de capo on 3rd fret, but this not so important.

The chords should be (with capo on 3rd fret):

Dm - G - C for the verse
Dm - F - C for the chorus
