...NIGHT BOAT TO CAIRO... by Madness
-------------------------...........

*from 'One Step Beyond' (1979)*

Intro:

C A#m (x3)

C A#m
 Night boat to Cairo!

Verse 1: (Instrumental)

C A#m (x8)
Fm C#7 (x3) Fm D#, (D#) D C7

Verse 1:

     C A#m
It's just gone noon, half past Monsoon,
       C A#m
On the banks of The River Nile.
     C A#m
Here comes the boat, only half-afloat,
        C A#m
Oarsman grins a toothless smile.

     C A#m
Only just one more, to this desolate shore,
     C A#m
Last boat along The River Nile.
        C A#m
Doesn't seem to care; no more wind in his hair,
      C A#m
As he reaches his last half mile.

        Fm C#7
The oar snaps in his hand, before he reaches dry land,
        Fm C#7
But the sound doesn't deafen his smile.
     Fm C#7
Just pokes at wet sand, with an oar in his hand;
       Fm D#
Floats off down the River Nile,
                    D C7 C# D D# E
Floats off down the River Nile.

F D#m (x8)

F D#m (x4)

F D#m (x3), F

Coda:

cool pretty good, i think the intro is:

|-------------------------------|
|-------------------------------|
|-------------------------------|
|---2--5-------------2--5-------|
|-3------4~~~--1~~-3-------4~~--|
|-------------------------------|

and after the last verse they just do that starting on the D string

bass is just triads

|------------|----------|
|----2--5--2-|------3---|
|-3----------|-1--4---4-|
|------------|----------|
i think when the chord goes to F bass plays

|---------3--4-5-4-5-4-5-|
|-3--5--6----------------|
|------------------------|
|------------------------|

good stuff!
