Whenever You're On My Mind by Marshall Crenshaw
Album: Field Day
Tabbed by twoputt@mac.com
    Corrections are always welcome!

The previous version (which didn't have contributor credits) was pretty close.
I just made a few corrections to the intro riff and I think they were F#m instead of F

INTRO RIFF:
e|--0-0-0----------------------------|--0-0-0----------------------------|
B|--2-------3-2-3-2------------0-----|--2-------3-2-3-2------------0-----|
G|--2---------------2------2-2---2---|--2---------------2------2-2---2---|
D|--------------------0-0------------|--------------------0-0------------|
A|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------|-----------------------------------|

A/G D F#m G A
I think about you and forget what I've tried to be
D F#m G A
Everything is foggy and hard to see
G Em7 Dsus2/G
It seems to be, but can it be, a fantasy?
A/G D F#m G A
Whenever I think about you, strangers eyes in the crowd flash past
D F#m G A
I go on and think of the fate you've cast
G Em7 Dsus2/G
It seems to be a reverie, you're here with me

CHORUS:
           A/G D Em G
'Cause whenever you're on my mind
    A D Em G
whenever you're on my mind
  A G F#m Em7
I leave the world behind
    A D
Whenever you're on my mind

(Riff)
         D F#m G A
I think about you and I'm weak though I'm in my prime
D F#m G A
Set my watch and still lose track of time
G Em7 Dsus2/G
It seems to be, but can it be, a fantasy?
A/G D F#m G A
Whenever I think about you, strangers eyes in the crowd flash past
D F#m G A
I go on and think of the fate you've cast
G Em7 Dsus2/G
It seems to be a reverie, you're here with me

(repeat Chorus)

C D
I never thought I'd be in this situation
C D
It seems wherever I go I'm with you
              Bm Bm7 G
And though I never seem to find my place
Em A
At every turn I see your face.

SOLO (using verse chord progression)
    D F#m G A
    D F#m G A

G Em7 Dsus2/G
It seems to be a reverie, you're here with me
           A/G D Em G
'Cause whenever you're on my mind
    A D Em G
whenever you're on my mind
  A G F#m Em7
I leave the world behind
    A D Em G

The E at the end of the Chorus should be Em7

Thanks twoputt -- this tab is great! One thought -- I'm having trouble making the bridge sound right with a B. Maybe try a Bm followed by a Bm7, and then the G?
