#1.
D Bm
That day, I first saw you (whoa, whoa) passing by..
  D Bm A
I wanted, to know your name, but I...was much too shy.
          D
But I was looking at you so hard,
         Bm
that you must have had a hunch.
        G Gm7
So, you came up to me and asked me my name.

CHORUS:
Gm7 D Bm
You beat me to the punch..that time..
                   D Bm
You beat me to the punch..oh, oh, oh, oh.
                   D Bm
You beat me to the pun.un.un.unch..

Whoa, whoa, whoa...

#2.
D Bm
After..I had known you, for what seems like a long, long, time.
  D Bm A
I wanted, wanted to ask you would you please, please, be mine.
         D
Whenever you came around, my heart would pound,
        Bm
so, you must have had a hunch.
        G Gm7
So, you came up to me and asked me to be yours.

CHORUS:
Gm7 D Bm
You beat me to the punch..one more time..
                   D Bm
You beat me to the punch..oh, oh, oh, oh.
                   D Bm
You beat me to the pun.un.un.unch..

Yeahhh...

#3.
G A D
Since I loved you, I thought you would be true and love
    Bm
me, tender.
      D Bm D Bm
So, I let my heart surrender..to you, yes I did.
    G A D
But I found out, beyond a doubt..one day, boy,
           Bm G A
you were a playboy..who would go away and leave me, blue.

#4.
A D
So, I ain't gonna wait, around for you to put me down.
     Bm G
This time I'm gonna play my hunch..and walk away this very day.
G D Bm
And beat you to the punch, this time.
                     D Bm
I'll beat you to the punch, yes, I will.

OUTRO:
     D Bm
I'll let you know, now..how great it feels...(Fade.)

Ha! I come here looking for a dynamite oldie.. and found it, and of course it was by KrazieKhat! GREAT job, buddy! Super song done superbly! Many thanks for it! (now if I can only 'learn' to sing it...d'oh! This gal has some 'moves' on her vocal chords! lol!)

Great work, as usual.

In the last line of verses 1 & 2, shouldn't the G be followed by Gm over "ask" and "asked" and continuing into the first phrase of the chorus? Just wondering. Rick in Macon
