Tuning - Standard

[Verse 1]
C#m7
Somethings In the air tonight
E
The skys alive with a burning light
        Asus2 E
You can mark my words something about to break
   C#m7
And I found myself In a bitter fight
            E
While I've held your hand through the darkest night
           Asus2 E
Don't know where your coming from but your coming soon

[Pre-Chorus 1]
               F#m11 Asus2
To a kid from Oregon by way of California
               F#m11 Asus2
All of this Is more than I've known or seen

[Chorus 1]
            E F#m11
Come on and we'll sing like we were free
               Asus2 E
Push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us
                               F#m11
Come on and we'll try one last time
               Asus2 E
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you
F#m11 E
And here we go theres nothing left to choose
F#m11 E
And here we go theres nothing left to lose

[Verse 2]
  C#m7
So I packed my car and I headed east
        E
Where I felt your fire and a sweet release
         Asus2 E
Theres a fire In these hills thats coming down
      C#m7
And I don't know much but I found you here
      E
And I cannot wait another year
           Asus2 E
Don't know where your coming from but your coming soon

[Pre-Chorus 2]
               F#m11 Asus2
To a kid from Oregon by way of California
               F#m11 Asus2
All of this Is more than I've known or seen

[Chorus 2]

[Bridge]
F#m11 Asus2
I can still hear the trains out my window
F#m11 Asus2
From Hobart street to here In Nashville
F#m11 Asus2
I can still smell the pomegranates grow
F#m11 Asus2
And I don't know how hard this wind will blow

Or where we'll go

[Chorus 3]
            E F#m11
Come on and we'll sing like we were free
               Asus2 E
Push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us
                               F#m11
Come on and we'll try one last time
               Asus2 E
I'm off of the floor one more time to find you
            E F#m11
Come on and we'll sing like we were free
               Asus2 E

I'm off of the floor one more time to find you

Come on and we'll sing
             F#m11
Like we were free
               Asus2 E
Push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us

The Asus2 sounds ackward to me, but other than that; it's a good job.

I think there are two basic strum patterns for the verse and chorus, something like this:

D-DUD-DU-UDU-UD
[1]

D-D-D-DU-UDU-UD [2]

If you listen very closely to the CD version, you should be able to hear it. The first
C#m7 is played more freely, but then he goes into pattern 1. At "break" in the first verse, he switches to pattern 2.
During the pre-chorus, he switches to a strumming pattern that uses even more slower consecutive downstrokes.

During
the chorus, I believe he mainly uses pattern 2, but it's so drowned out by the other instruments that it's hard to tell.
