First of all, thank you for taking a look at my tab of Bent by Matchbox Twenty and I hope
you enjoy playing along with it. It is based off of Rob Thomas' acoustic performance at
Red Rocks during his solo tour, hence the intro and bridge sound much different to the actual
CD version!

I've recently made a few changes, making some of the chords more precise to how I play it.
gth971x is correct, the G D/F# Em(7) progression goes G F# E down the low E-string (in
addition, I like to play the top E- and B-string 03 33 03 or 03 33 30 during that progression,
so that one string remains unchanged while the other changes). Also, I prefer to play the Cs
during the chorus as Cmaj7 (x32000).

One final point: if you want to play it like Rob Thomas on an acoustic, listen to the Red
Rocks performance to get a handle on strumming and rhythm, especially for the 'Em's in the
verses, as half of the time it includes pauses and hammer-ons.

Enjoy!

Capo 2nd fret

022000 X42000 X32000 022000

(Em) Am Am7
If I fall along the way
D Em
Then pick me up and dust me off
                          Am Am7
And if I get too tired to make it
D Em
Then be my breath so I can walk

                          Am Am7
And if I need some other love then
D Em
Just give me more than I can stand
                               Am Am7
And when my smile gets old and faded
D G
Then wait around I'll smile again

(G) D/F# Em
It shouldn't be so complicated
                   Am
Just hold me and then
          D G
Well just hold me again

(G) D/F# Em
Can you help me I'm bent?
                        Cmaj7
I'm so scared that I'll never
             D
Get put back together
      Cmaj7 G
Keep breaking me in
(G) D/F# Em
And this is how we will end

With you and me bent

Could you paint me better off?
                          Am Am7
Could you sympathize with my needs?

I know you think I need a lot

(G) D/F# Em
I started out clean but I'm jaded

I believe this tab is really close based on the live videos I've watched. The only things I would change are the Em should be an Em7 and the D's at the beginning of the Chorus and Pre-chorus are D/F#
