for the 7h9, i would thumb the 7 and hammer w/ the ring finger, then INSTEAD of the 5 on the A string, hit the open D string and use your middle and ring finger for the 7-8/7. as for the following 5th fret E and A notes in the chorus, i'd just do open D and A. any 5 on the A can be an open D and any 5 on the A can be an open E.
