Midlake - Van Occupanther

D# Fm
I must be careful now in my steps
D# Fm
Years of calculations and the stress
D# Fm
My science is waiting, nearly complete
D# Fm
One glass will last for nearly a week

D# Fm
Let me not get down from walking with no-one
D# Fm
and if I stumble from exhaustion
D# Fm
These buckets are heavy, I fill them with water
D# Fm
I could ask these people, but I shouldn't bother

D# Fm
Oh no, I've stumbled, was I going too fast?
D# Fm
Some get angry, some of them laugh
D# Fm
They told me I wouldn't, but I found an answer
D# Fm
I'm Van Occupanther, I'm Van occupanther!

              Gm G#
Let me not be too consumed with this world
                    Gm
Sometimes I want to go home
         G# D#
and stay out of sight for a long time

              Gm G#
Let me not be too consumed with this world
                    Gm
Sometimes I want to go home
         G# D#
and stay out of sight for a long time

Technically speaking, the D# is really an Eb and the G# is really an Ab, but that is neither here nor there. Nicely done.

Yeah, the chords are kind of incongruous, but correct. I prefer to put a capo on first fret and play D, Em, etc..

Great song and an overlooked band.
