The melodic line presented is not bad but has some peculiarities, (perhaps errors). No key is given. No sense of rhythm is indicated. I have provided a translation which is quite good. Sorry if the chordal notations are not in accord with UG guidlines. Feel free to use the translation in other katyusha tabs.

I would call this a Soviet era patriotic song rather than a wartime song. It is possible it was written in response to Soviet- Japanese border incidents from 1932-39 but the Soviets hadn't been involved in large conflicts since the Civil War.

Katyusha 1938 [Em]
Lyrics: M. Isakovsky
Music: M. Blanter
Translation: T.Coughlin

Player notes: 2/4 time,USSR (Ukulele Split Stroke of Russia)
D on 3rd and 4th strings, U on 1st, 2nd,3rd strings.
The last two lines of the verse repeat as the Chorus.

[Em]Apple trees and pear trees in [B7]flower.
[B7]Morning mist is rising in the [Em]sun.
[Em]Young Katyusha goes [Am]walking by the [Em7]river,
[C]On the [Em7]bank, down [Em]where the [Gmaj7]water [Em]runs.
Chorus

By the river, she sings, a love song,
To her hero, fighting far away.
To her lover, the one she dearly yearns,
She reads the letters, he writes every day.
Chorus

Oh, my song, the song of a maiden's true love,
Fly over the river. Into the sunlight go.
Fly to my love, who's fighting for our country,
Faithful Katyusha, sends him sweet hello.
Chorus

Let him remember an ordinary, girl,
Sweetly singing, like a morning dove,
To my lover, who preserves our homeland,
So Katyusha will preserve our love.
Chorus

Apple trees and pear trees in flower.
Morning mist is rising in the sun.
Young Katyusha goes walking by the river,
On the bank, down where the water runs.
Chorus x2
