GALWAY GIRL STEVE EARLE/SHARON SHANNON/MUNDY
www.kevinsutton.ie

D
Well, I took a stroll on the old long walk
      D G
On a day-I-ay-I-ay
Bm A G D
I met a little girl and we stopped to talk
      D A D
on a grand soft day-I-ay

      G D
And I ask you, friend,
          G D
 what's a fella to do
            Bm A G D
'Cause her hair was black and her eyes were blue
        G D G D
And I knew right then I'd be takin' a whirl
            Bm A G D
'Round the Salthill Prom with a Galway girl

D D G G D
G D.... G D.... A A.... D

We were halfway there when the rain came down
On a day-I-ay-I-ay
And she took me up to her flat downtown
Of a grand soft day-I-ay-I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was black and her eyes were blue
So I took her hand and I gave her a twirl
And I lost my heart to a Galway girl

BRIDGE
D D G G D
G D.... G D.... A A.... D
G.....D.......A
G D.... G D.... A A.... D

When I woke up I was all alone
With a broken heart and a ticket home
And I ask you now, tell me what would you do
If her hair was black and her eyes were blue
I've traveled around I've been all over this world
Boys I ain't never seen nothin' like a Galway girl

OUTRO same as Bridge

Definitely more accurate than the other versions, thanks!

People only like version 3 because it's easier. I can't see how anyone can fail to hear that there's 4 different chords in "her hair was black and her eyes were blue"
