actually, if you ever see them live, that's how the song is played.

I agree though - especially if you're doing an acoustic version - it sounds a little odd. I just generally play it without the capo and it sounds fine, if you're not trying to reproduce the exact sound. (actually, because I'm a girl and my voice almost reaches that low but not quite, I play with the capo on the first fret. but that's just for my voice. details, details.)
