OK, a few things here - been playing this tune for years.

The second chord in the intro is a Gmaj7 - play the D note on the 3rd fret, 2nd string as well as an F# on 1st string, 2 fret - curl your thumb over the top to play the G bass note on the sixth string. As suggested, listen to the song and you'll hear Neil lift his finger off the first string in this chord as well, giving it that great melody.

During the verses Neil does not play a D/G - try a regular G chord and then change to Gmaj7th - again, listen to tune - you'll hear him make that change.

Also, rather than an F#minor play a F#7. You'll hear the difference! And then you're good to go.

Great song - one of my favorite tunes by Neil Young!
