2nd fret
Song: This Town
Artist: Niall Horan
Year: 2016
Tuning: Standard
Capo: 2

This is my first tab! I just got the tabs from watching his live 1 mic, 1 take recording. You can watch
it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNBlfyYHu80

All chords are relevant to the capo.

[Chords]
G, Em7 Cadd9, D, G* (not official name), Dm/G (not official name)

NOTE: He plays a Cadd9 shape but many times in the video, he removes his index finger from the 2nd fret of
D string. This doesn't affect sound, but saying it's a Cadd9 is easiest for the tab's sake.

Picking D
Traditional D shape, pick like this.
e|-----------------------|
B|----3---3---3----------|
G|----2---2---2----------|
D|---0---0---0-----------|
A|-----------------------|
E|-----------------------|

G*
Traditional G shape on B and e, play like this:
e|-----------------------|
B|----3------------------|
G|----0------------------|
D|-----------------------|
A|-----------------------|
E|--2--------------------|

Dm/G - Dm shape with your thumb pressing on the 2nd fret, wrap around the neck of the guitar.
e:1
B:3
G:2
D:0
A:0
G:2

Pick it like this:
e|-----------------------|
B|----3------------------|
G|----2------------------|
D|-----------------------|
A|-----------------------|
E|--2--------------------|

The progression in the prechorus when he says "The words I never got to say the first time around" can be
slightly tricky. G and G* are only picked twice. The best way to describe it is to step down with your
index and middle fingers so it's like this:

"The words I never got to say the first time around"
     D D G G G* G* Em7 x4
e|----------------------------------------------------|
B|----3---3------3---3---3---3----3---3---3---3-------|
G|----2---2------0---0---0---0----0---0---0---0-------|
D|--0----0--------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------2---2---2---2-------|
E|---------------3---3---2---2------------------------|
^ Walk down the E string, using your middle for G and your index finger for G*.

[Intro]
G

The picking pattern is fairly consistent throughout the song. Basically, pick the lowest note followed by the
G and B strings as shown below:

e|-----------------------|
B|----3---3---3----------|
G|----0---0---0----------|
D|-----------------------|
A|-----------------------|
E|--3---3---3------------|

(Repeat this until Niall begins to sing)

[Verse 1]

Waking up to kiss you and nobody’s there
Em7
The smell of your perfume still stuck in the air

The words I never got to say the first time around
Dm/G D
And I remember everything
                  G G* Em7
From when we were the children playing in this fairground
                          Cadd9
Wish I was there with you now

If the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you

And I remember everything
                  G G* Em7
From when we were the children playing in this fairground
                          Cadd9
Wish I was there with you now

[Chorus]
Em7
Because if the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you
Cadd9
Drive highways and byways to be there with you
G
Over and over the only truth
Em7 D G* Cadd9
Everything comes back to you
G
You still make me nervous when you walk in the room
Em7
Them butterflies they come alive when I’m next to you
Cadd9
Over and over the only truth
Em7 D G* Cadd9
Everything comes back to you

[Bridge]
G
Mmmmmm
Em7
And I know that it’s wrong
G
That I can’t move on
Cadd9
(**Note: Niall does something fancy here but playing Cadd9 sounds fine)
But there’s something about you

[Chorus]
Em7
If the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you
Cadd9
Drive highways and byways to be there with you
G
Over and over the only truth
Em7 Dm/G D Cadd9
Everything comes back to you
Cadd9
You still make me nervous when you walk in the room
Em7
Them butterflies they come alive when I’m next to you
G
Over and over the only truth
Em7 Dm/G D Cadd9
Everything comes back to you
Em7 Dm/G D Cadd9
Mmmm mmmmm mmmm mmmmmm
Em7 Dm/G D Cadd9
Everything comes back to you
