E A D G B E
C Dm
Looking out the window of this Hollywood hotel,
      G C
You'd never know that it was Christmas Eve.
    C Dm
The billboards and the neon took the place of silver bells,
        G C
And the temperature is 84 degrees.
Dm G
I can hear the traffic on the crowded strip below
       Dm G
As the palm trees poke their heads above the scene
        C Dm
There's not a single reindeer and it hardly ever snows,
    G C
And Santa drives a Rolls Royce limosine.

    Bb F C
But all along the Rockies you can feel it in the air
     Bb F G
From Telluride to Boulder down below
    C Dm
The closest thing to Heaven on this planet anywhere
     G C
Is a quiet Christmas morning in the Colorado snow

C Dm
I remember Christmases when I was just a boy
       G C
In the morning I would run to see the tree.
        C Dm
And the carolers on the hillside sang their songs of Christmas joy
        G C
Well, I always thought they sang them just for me.
Dm G
Now the sun is setting in the California sky
    Dm G
And I can't find the spirit anywhere
     C Dm
So I think its time for me to tell Los Angeles goodbye
   G C
I'm going back home to look for Christmas there

    Bb F C
But all along the Rockies you can feel it in the air
     Bb F G
From Telluride to boulder down below
    C Dm
The closest thing to Heaven on this planet anywhere

Is a quiet Christmas morning in the Colorado snow

Thank you for posting this. It's my favorite Christmas song! I think the am should be dm and the em should be G in all cases.

I love this song! It's great to find it here. I learned it with dm where the am's are. I was taught with the em in the chorus and dm instead in the verses.
That said, when I play it with the nitty gritty version, the am & em fits better. Thanks!
