[Intro]
Bm - G - D - G

[Verse 1]
Bm G
i tried to paint you a picture, the colors were all wrong
D G
black and white didn't fit ya, and all along
Bm G
you were shaded with patience, and strokes of everything
D G
that i need just to make it, but i can see that

[Pre-Chorus]
A G
Lord knows i failed you time and again
A G
but you and me are alright

[Chorus]
Bm G D A/G
we won't say our goodbyes, you know it's better that way
Bm G D A/G
we won't break we won't die, it's just a moment of change
Bm G D A/G
all we are, all we are, is everything thats right
Bm G D A/G C9 - A
all we need, all we need, a lover's alibi

[Verse 2]
(same chords as Verse 1):
i walked a minute in your shoes, they never would have fit
i figured there's nothing to lose, i need to get
some perspective on these words, before i write them down
you're an island and my ship has run aground

[Repeat Pre-Chorus]

[Repeat Chorus]

[Refrain]
C9
and every single day that i can breathe
A
you change my philosophy
    D A/G
i'm never gonna let you pass me by

[Repeat Chorus] 2x

This is pretty good but i think the C9 can be replaced with just a normal C

The pre-chorus isn't wrong. There are two versions of this song. The piano is all changed in the new one, and some of the chords in the verse too..
