About this tab version
In the movie, they have two different versions of this song - the professionally recorded version that was released on the soundtrack and a solo version that Llewyn begins to sing in the Gorfein's dining room. He cuts this version short, but I thought it would be nice for the fans of the solo version to have one without making mental tweaks using the original. Was this info helpful? Yes No
Strumming
There is no strumming pattern for this song yet. and get +5 IQ
This is the version that Llewyn begins to sing at the Gorfein's dinner. It sounds nice with a bit of harmony
but it's better for going solo when you don't have a partner to sing along. This version differs slightly in
the chord progression than the recorded version of the song. No capo originally, but use a capo if you need
to.
Tuning is standard. The G/F# is only played for a beat as a walkdown, and it's also done between the last
G and Em of the verse chords.

G C G
(G/F#) Em C D
G Em C D G (C G)

         G C G
If I had wings, like Noah's dove
     (G/F#) Em C D
I'd fly the river, to the one I love
         G Em C D G (C G)
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

             G C G
Well I had a man, who was long and tall
      (G/F#) Em C D
He moved his body like a cannonball
         G Em C D G (C G)
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

               G C G
I remember one evening, in the pouring rain
   (G/F#) Em C D
And in my heart was an aching pain
         G Em C D G (C G)
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

(Inst. Break)
G C G
(G/F#) Em C D
G Em C D G (C G)

      G C G
Muddy river, is muddy and wild
      (G/F#) Em C D
Can't give a bloody for my unborn child
         G Em C D G (C G)
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

             G C G
So show us a bird, flying high above
          (G/F#) Em C D
Life ain't worth living without the one you love
         G Em C D G (C G)
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well

         G Em C D G
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
