NOTE: Bm is not the correct chord, I chose it because it sounds close to the
original one and I didn't know what the right one is called. It looks like this:

When he woke up with nothing he said I'll tell you something
               Em        Bm                     G
When you've got nothing, you've got nothing to lose

[Chorus]

                C                    G                   D
Now I've got a hole in my pocket, a hole in my shirt, a whole lot of
              G
trouble, he said
     C                      G                    D
but now the money is gone, life carries on and I miss it like a hole in the
G
head!

               Am               C                    G
well we've got holes, we've got holes, but we carry on
               Am           C                      G            D

               Am                C                 G

Do you play the entire strum pattern for a chord when it is labeled? Or how do you know when to switch? Sorry Im new to guitar

This may be a bit late, but it's
Em = DDU
D/F# = DDU (what the person referred to as Bm)
G = DDUUDU
