THE HELL OF IT
(Paul Williams)
-From the 'Phantom of the Paradise' soundtrack.

E
Roll on thunder, shine on lightning
    Am
The days are long and the nights are frightenin'
C
Nothing matters anyway,
               G D Am
And that's the hell of it.

E
Winter comes and the winds blew colder
      Am
While some grew wiser, you just grew older
    C
And you never listened anyway,
               G D Am
And that's the hell of it.

G
Good for nothing, bad in bed
G
Nobody likes you and you're better off dead
    C E C
Goodbye (Goodbye!), we've all come to say goodbye (Goodbye!),
     E
Goodbye (Goodbye!).

G
Born defeated, died in vain
G
Super-destructive, you were hooked on pain
C E
Though your music lingers on
C E
All of us are glad you're gone

Bm C G
If I could live my life half as worthlessly as you
Bm C E D Am
I'm convinced that I'd wind up burning too.

E
Love yourself as you loved no other
   Am
Be no man's fool and be no man's brother
      C G
We're all born to die alone, you know, that's the hell of it.

E
Life's a game where they're bound to beat you
    Am
And time's a trick it can turn to cheat you
     C
And we only waste it anyway,
               G
And that's the hell of it.

G
Good for nothing, bad in bed
G
Nobody likes you and you're better off dead
    C E C
Goodbye (Goodbye!), we've all come to say goodbye (Goodbye!),
     E
Goodbye (Goodbye!).

G
Born defeated, died in vain
G
Super-destructive, you were hooked on pain
C E
Though your music lingers on
C E
All of us are glad you're gone

Bm C G
If I could live my life half as worthlessly as you
Bm C E
I'm convinced that I'd wind up burning too.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it was a shame that this song wasn't yet in UG, so, though I'm an awful
guitar player (and, as you can see, an awful english speaker as well), I tried to
get the chords...
And, well, here it is, my first tab. Don't be rough, I'M A BABY!
As you'll see, it's easy as hell, so...
Enjoy (if you can).

Clearly wrong. maybe the only chords that are right are the Am chords. the other version is good and in the same tuning
