[Intro]

C Em F G C Em Dm G

[Verse 1]

     C Em
You talk like Marlene Dietrich
         F G
And you dance like Zizi Jeanmaire
      C Em
Your clothes are all made by Balmain
             Dm G G7 G
And there's diamonds and pearls in your hair, yes there are

      C Em
You live in a fancy apartment
        F G
Off the Boulevard Saint-Michel
           C Em
Where you keep your Rolling Stones records
      Dm G G7 G
And a friend of Sacha Distel, yes you do

[Chorus]

   C Em
But where do you go to my lovely
  F G
When you're alone in your bed
  C Em
Tell me the thoughts that surround you
   Dm G G7 G
I want to look inside your head, yes I do

[Verse 2]

      C Em
I've seen all your qualifications
    F G
You got from the Sorbonne
        C Em
And the painting you stole from Picasso
       Dm G G7 G
Your loveliness goes on and on, yes it does

      C Em
When you go on your summer vacation
    F G
You go to Juan-les-Pins
    C Em
With your carefully designed topless swimsuit
    Dm G G7 G
You get an even suntan on your back and on your legs

[Pre-Chorus]

    C Em
And when the snow falls you're found in Saint Moritz
         F G
With the others of the jet-set
         C Em
And you sip your Napoleon brandy
         Dm G G7 G
But you never get your lips wet, no you don't

[Chorus]

 C Em
But where do you go to my lovely
F G
When you're alone in your bed
   C Em
Won't you tell me the thoughts that surround you
  Dm G G7 G
I want to look inside your head, yes I do

[Verse 3]

     C Em
Your name, it is heard in high places
    F G
You know the Aga Khan
C Em
He sent you a racehorse for Christmas
         Dm G G7 G
And you keep it just for fun, for a laugh, a-ha-ha-ha

     C Em
They say that when you get married
      F G
It'll be to a millionaire
         C Em
But they don't realize where you came from
      Dm G G7 G
And I wonder if they really care, or give a damn

[Chorus]

  C Em
Where do you go to my lovely
F G
When you're alone in your bed
  C Em
Tell me the thoughts that surround you
   Dm G G7 G
I want to look inside your head, yes I do

[Verse 4]

     C Em
I remember the back streets of Naples
    F G
Two children begging in rags
        C Em
Both touched with a burning ambition
   Dm G G7 G
To shake off their lowly-born tags, so they try

   C Em
So look into my face Marie-Claire
    F G
And remember just who you are
     C Em
Then go and forget me forever
      Dm G G7 G
But I know you still bear the scar, deep inside, yes you do

[Outro]

    C Em
I know where you go to my lovely
F G
When you're alone in your bed
C Em
I know the thoughts that surround you
   Dm F G (one strum)
'Cause I can look inside your head

The chords are the same as I remember them from the 1970's, LOL.

He recorded a version with a couple more verses, probably on the LP disc;

This one after the 2nd verse:
You go to the embassy parties,
Where you talk in Russian and Greek,
And the young men who move in your circle,
They hang on every word you speak, yes they do.

This one after the refrain, before verse 6:
You're in between twenty and thirty,
A very desirable age,
Your body is firm and inviting,
But you live on a glittering stage, yes you do, yes you do.

e|---3-----1-----0-----1B|---0-----0-----0-----0G|---0-----0-----0-----0D|---0-----0-----0-----0A|---2-----2-----2-----2E|---3-----3-----3-----3 G G7 ? G7Think there is an extra chord at the end of the verse, leaving the high 'e' open for a couple of strums. Appart from that sounds great
