why is this in drop d?

Because I found it easier to play, and with the variations it especially seems easier, so I tabbed it this way. Besides there are few songs that are out there that aren't tabbed out already, and those that aren't, chances are I wouldn't be able to tab them out, being a novice guitar player as I am. But if it confuses you, change the D to E, and subtract 2 from every number on that string, (eg. 4 changes to 2) I hope this helps...

It is best to play it in drop D because of the variations throughout the song. It's best to have your 2nd and 3rd finger on the 6th and 5th string to do those variations with your 4th finger. If you played in regular tuning, doing those variations is a complication
