Capo
1st fret
Thanks to gordonmjulian for laying down the bare bones.
Just with the after G chord, to shake it up a little and upset people,
move the bass note on G down a fret
E-----3------ --------3------------------------------------|
B------------ ---------------------------------------------|
G------------THEN---------------------------------------------|
D------------ ---------------------------------------------|
A-----2------ ---------------------------------------------|
E-----3------ --------2------------------------------------|
tricky, ain't it.
Enjoy.

Capo 1st.

[Verse 1]

Am Em
No one laughs at God in a hospital
D G
No one laughs at God in a war
          Em
No one’s laughing at God
              Bm C/G
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

Am Em
No one laughs at God when the doctor calls
D G
After some routine tests
            Em
No one’s laughing at God
            Bm
when it’s gotten real late
           C/G
And their kid’s not back from that party yet

Am Em
No one laughs at God when their airplane
D G
Starts to uncontrollably shake
            Em
No one’s laughing at God
           Bm C/G
When they see the one they love hand in hand

with someone else and they hope that they’re mistaken

Am Em
No one laughs at God when the cops knock on their door
D G
And they say “We’ve got some bad news, sir,”
            Em
No one’s laughing at God
                 Bm C/G
When there’s a famine, fire or flood

[Chorus]

              Am Em
But God can be funny
                D G
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
              Em
Or when the crazies say He hates us
        C/G D
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
           Am Em
God can be funny,
                         D G
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
         Em C/G
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
            D
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
    D
God can be so hilarious
   Am Em D G
Ha ha
   Am Em D G
Ha ha

[Verse 5]

Am Em
No one laughs at God in a hospital
D G
No one laughs at God in a war
          Em
No one’s laughing at God
              Bm
when they’ve lost all they got
          C/G
And they don’t know what for

[Bridge]

Am Em
No one laughs at God on the day they realize
D G
that the last sight they’ll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
           Em
No one’s laughing at God
              C/G
When they’re saying their goodbyes

[Chorus]

              Am Em
But God can be fuuuuuunny
                D G
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
              Em
Or when the crazies say He hates us
        C/G D
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
           Am Em
God can be fuuuuuunny,
                         D G
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
         Em C/G
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
            D
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
    D
God can be so hilarious

[Bridge]

Am Em
No one laughs at God in a hospital
D G
No one laughs at God in a war
Am Em
No one’s laughing at God in a hospital
D G
No one’s laughing at God in a war
           Em
No one’s laughing at God
               Bm C/G
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

(carry on C/G chord)

[Outro]

No one’s laughing at God

No one's laughing at God

No one's laughing at God
                    G
We’re all laughing with God

I think it sounds better if after the G chord you simply play a D/F# chord (200232). Good job

Not quite tricky, rather wrong. Wermer here is right. The Bm chord sounds a bit strange still. What variation do you use?

In stead of the Bm I play D and it sounds fine.
