Here's my acoustic version of this wondeful song:

C#m _

C#m F#m A B
C#m F#m A B
C#m F#m A B
C#m F#m A B

    C#m F#m A
So please don't ask me how
            B C#m
I ended up at my wits end
       F#m A
And breaking down
B C#m F#m
Pages torn from books we never read,
                  A B
Cause we're plugged into this grid.
        C#m F#m
Don't pull this plug right now,
                   A B
Or then we'd really have to live.

            A F#m
When I die, will they remember not
            A F#m
What I did, but what I haven't done?
                A F#m
It's not the end that I fear with each breath
     A B
It's life that scares me to death.

               E
When we built these dreams on sand
               B
How they all slipped through our hands
C#m A
This might be our only chance
                     E
Let's take this one day at a time
                  B
I'll hold your hand if you hold mine
      C#m A
The time that we kill keeps us alive.

C#m F#m A B
C#m F#m A B
C#m F#m A B
C#m F#m A B

C#m F#m A
Your words won't save me now.
              B C#m F#m A
I'm at the edge feeling the sweat drip from my brow.
          B C#m F#m
"Get a grip on yourself" is what they say,
         A B
Every hour, every day.
C#m F#m
Hands over my ears,
             A B
I've been screaming all these years!

            A F#m
When I die, will they remember not
            A F#m
What I did, but what I haven't done?
                A F#m
It's not the end that I fear with each breath
     A B
It's life that scares me to death.

               E
When we built these dreams on sand
               B
How they all slipped through our hands
C#m A
This might be our only chance
                     E
Let's take this one day at a time
                  B
I'll hold your hand if you hold mine
      C#m A
The time that we kill keeps us alive.

F#m _ _

 F#m E F#m _
We came in search of answers!
 E D _ A B _ E
       We left empty handed again!
F#m _ E F#m _
        Shots fired into the sky...
E D _
      Are now returning!
A B _ E
Where the fuck will you hide?

F#m _ E F#m _
Hiding from the laughter in the closets of our lives,
E D _ A E _
But the door hinges are squeaking letting in thin shards of light.
E F#m _
And now a hand's extending outward,
E F#m _
   Quiet comfort they invite,
E D _
Do we dare take what they offer?
A E _
Do we step into the light?

            A F#m
When I die, will they remember not
            A F#m
What I did, but what I haven't done?
                A F#m
It's not the end that I fear with each breath
     A B
It's life that scares me to death.

i think the page is getting the chords wrong because you put that the guitar must be tuned half step down, when i hover over the A chord it shows a A# E is E# and so on

Easy fix, transpose the tab a half step down and you get the right chord shapes.

You play the song tuned down a half step. His chord chart isn't the actual chords, it's just the shapes of the chords you're playing.

If you transpose this tab 2 steps down and then play it in standard tuning with capo on 1, all the chords will be standard chords like these:

Bm Em G A
Bm Em G A
Bm Em G A
Bm Em G A

Sounds spot on and very easy to play :)
