MOCKINGBIRD
Rob Thomas

Intro: CF

[C] Here we stand
Somewhere in between this [F] moment and the end
[C] Will we bend?
Or will we open up and [F] take this whole thing in?
[C] Everybody else is smiling
And their [F] smiles don’t fade
And you [C] don’t even wonder why
You just don’t [F] think that way

Maybe [C] you and me got lost somewhere,
We [G] can’t move or we can’t stay here
Well, [Am] maybe we’ve just had enough,
Well, [F] maybe we ain’t meant for this love

[C] You and me tried everything
But [G] still that mocking bird won’t sing
Well, [Am] man this life seems hard enough
Well, [F] maybe we ain’t meant for this love [C]

[C] Take my hand
And I will lead you through the [F] broken promise land
[C] Yes I can, oh yes I can
I can be there when you [F] need it,
I’ll give it all till you can’t feel it anymore
[C] I don’t wanna love you now,
If you’ll just [F] leave someday
[C] I don’t wanna turn around,
If you’ll just [F] walk away

Maybe [C] you and me got lost somewhere,
We [G] can’t move or we can’t stay here
Well, [Am] maybe we’ve just had enough,
Well, [F] maybe we ain’t meant for this love

[C] You and me tried everything
But [G] still that mocking bird won’t sing
Well, [Am] man this life seems hard enough
Well, [F] maybe we ain’t meant for this love [C]

Instrumental bridge: C – G – Am – F

Maybe [C] you and me got lost somewhere,
We [G] can’t move or we can’t stay here
Well, [Am] maybe we’ve just had enough,
Well, [F] maybe we ain’t meant for this love

[C] You and me tried everything
But [G] still that mocking bird won’t sing
Well, [Am] man this life seems hard enough
Well, [F] maybe we ain’t meant for this love [C]

This is a great start! To get the feel for the beginning, I'd definitely, change the straight C - F to: C -F; C -C -C -C -F & repeat listen to the intro to get the actual rhythms for this. To add richness in play, for each chord in the progression, I'd play: C, then Cadd9; G, then G/C; Am, then Asus4 (very optional) F, then Fadd9

I've found that the prechorus (e.g. from "Everybody else is smiling ") isn't C, but rather G (so you switch back and forth from G to F instead of C to F). Not a big change, but it definitely matches the recording better.
