Capo 1st fet

Intro - G D A D, G D A x 2

Verse:

       G D
If you never leave the highlands

              A D
Like you're drowning under a rain

         G D
And your sadness tastes like whiskey

        A
And my body breathe the same

        G D
And I'll drain my wisdom empty

            A D
Just to to feel that space again

Chorus:

G D
But you know nothing is as silent

G D
And my secret is my silence

G D
And my secret is my silence

        Bm A
And my silence is in vain

Same chords throughout.

Not bad, but during the verses it goes G - D - A - D instead of just G - D - A

Also there is a middle 8 part which goes

Em - G - D - A

Lyrics as they appear in Roddy Woomble's book 'Instrumentals' (2016). In the recorded version he of course repeats the chorus, as well as the end of verse 3, and adds a few words here and there. If you never leave the highlandslike you're drowning under rainand your sadness tastes like whiskeyand my body breathes the sameDrain my wisdom emptyjust to feel that space againI'm sick of living in these buildingsthat were built in blood and rainfrom the warm side of the windowthe view always looks the samebut your face it held the storiesfull of dreams it can't containyou held on to the countryfrom the kailyard to the graveand wrote in quickly written verseshidden in your gaelic nameand you approach land without a harbourand find your way homeby a nicotine flameyou know nothing is as silentMy secret is my silencebut my silence is in vain...
