About this tab version
This version is good for just printing out and following along as you play. With that said, you might need to learn a few new chords in the process. Was this info helpful? Yes No
Strumming
There is no strumming pattern for this song yet. and get +5 IQ
So just some opening comments. From what I have learnt of Ryan Adams previously is that he likes to keep
chord shapes while moving the bass around for example the start of the chorus and the Am7 C/B C part. So if
possible, keep the higher notes in tact while moving the bass parts around.
Supplementary chords:

Csus2 C/B Am7 D5

e|-3-| e|-3-| e|-3-| e|-x-|
B|-1-| B|-1-| B|-1-| B|-3-|
G|-0-| G|-0-| G|-0-| G|-2-|
D|-0-| D|-x-| D|-2-| D|-0-|
A|-3-| A|-2-| A|-0-| A|---|
E|---| E|---| E|---| E|---|

For the chorus part I keep my fingers on a G shape (3 2 0 0 3 3) and just move my second finger along with
the ascending bass parts up until the D5 chord.

[Intro]

G Csus2 G Csus2

[Verse 1]

G Csus2
So, it's how the story goes.
       G Csus2
Can we cut to the scene where I'm holding you close.
    G Csus2
She moves, moves like a pendulum blade
G Csus2
Cut, out all the words that I say.

[Pre-Chorus 1]

G/F# G
The only difference is,
G/F# G
The only difference is,
Em
Truth --
D5 Csus2
The truth is I miss you.

[Chorus]

G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
          Em
How'd you learn to?
G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
                Am7
Teach me if you want to.
C/B Csus2
Though you don't have to.
             C/B Am7
I just close my eyes and think of you.

[Instrumental]

G Csus2 G Csus2

[Verse 2]

G Csus2
Real. Real like a plastic bouquet.
     G Csus2
That thrives on the smoke from an old fireplace.
    G Csus2
And dies every night with her face on the news.
       G Csus2
Nobody cries, they just smoke and stare and their shoes.

[Pre-chorus 2]

G/F# G
The only difference is,
G/F# G
The only difference is,
Em
Nobody can cry --
     D5 Csus2
It's hard to do.
    C/B C D Em
For most folks, without a reason why.

[Chorus 2]

G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
          Em
How'd you learn to?
G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
              Am7
Why would you want to?

[Bridge]

Am7 B C
Just close your eyes and think of me.
  Am7 C/B Csus2
I take back everything I said.
    Am7 C/B C
She can't hurt me, and I can't hurt you.
Am7 C/B C
It's like were already dead.

[Chorus 3]

G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
              Em
Why would you want to?
G Am G/B Csus2 D5
Cry on demand.
                Am7
Teach me if you want to.
C/B C
Though you don't have to.
             C/B Am7
I just close my eyes and think of you.

[Outro]

G Csus2 G Csus2
