Nearer My God To Thee Chords
Adams / Mason 1841?

[Verse 1]

G C
Nearer, my God, to Thee
G D
Nearer to Thee
G C
E'en though it be a cross
G D7 G
That raiseth me
G C G
Still all my song would be
G C D7
Nearer, my God, to Thee
G C G D7 G
Nearer my God to Thee, nearer to Thee

[Verse 2]

G C
Though, like the wanderer
    G D
The sun gone down
G C
Darkness be over me
G D7 G
My rest a stone
G C G
Yet in my dreams I'd be
G C D7
Nearer, my God, to Thee
G C G D7 G
Nearer to Thee, nearer to Thee

[Verse 3]

There let the way appear
Steps up to heaven
All that Thou sendest me
In mercy given
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer to Thee, nearer to Thee

[Verse 4]

Then, with my waking thoughts
Bright with Thy praise
Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I'll raise
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer to Thee, nearer to Thee

[Verse 5]

Or, if on joyful wing
Cleaving the sky
Sun, moon, and stars forgot
Upwards I fly
Still all my song shall be
Nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer to Thee, nearer to Thee

Tried singing with it, chord progression doesn't match. Read the music straight from the book, not the same

I think it is pretty close to the original. I played this while listening to the version on the Titanic on You Tube and it matched except for the sixth line. The chord "My God" should be a "D" and not a "C"
