[Verse 1]

C D/F# C D/F#
Are there no blinders on lights that blare
      C D/F# C D/F#
White noise on the eyes
     C D/F# C D/F#
From gas station lots and reflected ice -- glare
        C D/F# C D/F#
So that I can walk home by moonlight -- alone
C D/F# C D/F#

[Verse 2]

   C D/F# C D/F#
Or can we go out to where the wind howls
    C D/F# C D/F#
And stand alee against the trees
        C D/F# C D/F#
They've grown up so tall that you can't see the house
        C D/F# C D/F# G
It's a fortress now but you know how it used to be

[Chorus 1]

G C D G C D
I can lie to myself and say I like it
G C D C D/F#
But I would love it if you were here
C D/F#
C D/F#
C D/F#

[Verse 3]

      C D/F# C D/F#
These words on paper smell like you
  C D/F# C D/F#
Associated in random thought
C D/F# C D/F#
On my lips the words turn blue
C D/F# C D/F# G
Evanescent feeling lost

[Chorus 2]

G C D G C D
I can lie to myself and say I like it
G C D G C D
But I would love it if you were here
G C D G C D
I'm just sad for myself because I know you're clear
G C D C D/F#
But I would love it if you were here
C D/F#
C D/F#
C D/F#

[Verse 4]

C D/F# C D/F#
I can just see you show me your gardens
  C D/F# C D/F#
I thought you'd grow roses and grapes on low vines
  C D/F# C D/F#
I wanted to know you when we were both older
  C D/F# C D/F# G
I thought there'd be more of those wonderful times

[Chorus 3]

G C D G C D
I can lie to myself and say I like it
G C D G C D
But I would love it if you were here
G C D G C D
I'm just sad for myself because I know you're clear
G C D C D/F#
But I would love it if you were here

[Outro]

C D/F#
        You were here
C D/F#
        Yes, you were
C D/F#
        Yes, you were
C D/F#

Praise! I love this song so much. Thank you for tabbing! I find it easiest to play by using a Cadd with the 5th string held down on third fret so its quicker to switch to the D/F# in the verses. Also I like playing a C/G in the chorus to make it fuller! Great job!
