About this tab version
This song is originally in Gb, with a modulation into E for the 'chorus', with a capo on 1 it can be played in F and Eb respectively. The orchestra features heavily in this piece, throughout the 'verses' the strings play a high 6th with lots of vibrato. In the chorus there is no guitar at all, with basses descending and the rest of the strings playing lush single notes. As such, it's quite hard to condense this part into single 'chords' let alone replicate it on the guitar. I have nonetheless added a fair approximation of the chords if you wish to attempt it. For the verses, strum a few downstrokes after the bass plays, as you can hear on the record. Was this info helpful? Yes No

[Verse 1]
Csus2/G
It's raining today
                                      F6/9 Csus4/F
And I'm just about to forget the train window girl
              Csus2/G
That wonderful day we met
      Bb6/F Bb/F Csus2/G
She smiles through the smoke from my cigarette

[Verse 2]
Csus2/G
It's raining today

But once there was summer and you
        F6/9 Csus4/F
And dark little rooms
                Csus2/G
And sleep in late afternoons
      Bb6/F Bb/F Csus2/G
Those moments descend on my windowpane

[Chorus 1]
(there's no guitar for this part, this is roughly what the orchestra is doing
 still relative to the capo)

Ebmaj7 Ab
I've hung around here too long
Gm G7
Listenin' to the old landlady's hard-luck stories
Ebmaj7 Ab
You out of me, me out of you
Eb
We go like lovers
Eb Eb/D Eb/C Eb/Bb
To replace the empty space
Eb/Ab Ab G
Repeat our dreams to someone new

[Verse 3]
Csus2/G
It's raining today

And I watch the cellophane streets
            F6/9 Csus4/F
No hang-ups for me
               Csus2/G
'Cause hang-ups need company
    Bb6/F Bb/F Csus2/G
The street corner girl's a cold trembling leaf

[Outro]
     Bb6/F Bb/F
It's raining today
     Csus2/G
It's raining today
