Burn
Alpha (2007)

by Daniel Shuster (weattack@yahoo.com)

I would like to start by saying this is my favorite song off of my favorite album by Sevendust.
Its deff a looney song (the way its played), but the result was some weird/beautiful chords.
I also have to thank Darren Davis for his video on YouTube. The way we play the song
different
in some aspect, and i tabbed it out my way, but if it wasnt for him, i couldnt have
out
the proper tuning, and such.

Tuning:

Bb F Bb Eb Ab Db

A variant drop Bb tuning, with the last 2 strings matched with the 5th notes instead of
4th than 5th note.

Db|-0----0---0---------------0--3----3------0-------------0----------|
Ab|---1----0----3---3------5-------0-----0----0-----0---1------------|
Eb|---------------3---3---------------------------3------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
F |------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|

Db|---0---0-----0--------0--0--3------3-------0------------------------|
Ab|-0---0----3----0---------0-----5---------0---0-----0----------------|
Eb|-----------------3-------6-------6---------------3------------------|
Bb|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
F |--------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|--------------------------------------------------------------------|

Verses

Db|--------------------|--------------------------|
Ab|--------------------|--------------------------|
Eb|--------------------|--------------------------|
Bb|-----------------4--|--------------------0-4-3-|
F |-1h44444444444444--(x3)-1h44444444444444-0-4-3-|
Bb|--------------------|--------------------0-4-3-|
                                            m m m

Continously bend the 4's on the F string, and start to release the bend (but dont)
right before you hit the 4 on the Bb string. Palm mute the chords

Chorus

Now these are some weird chords so bare with me

Db|-0----0----0----0-------------------------------------------------|
Ab|-0----0----4----4-------------------------------------------------|
Eb|-9----9----5----0-------------------------------------------------|
Bb|-7----7----5----5-------------------------------------------------|
F |-5----7----3----5-------------------------------------------------|
Bb|-0----7----3----5-------------------------------------------------|

No strumming pattern is shown

Lead part in the chorus
Db|-------------------------------------------------------------|
Ab|-------------------------------------------------------------|
Eb|-1010--\9-/10-/-12-/14-\10\9----1010-910------/12-/14-\9-\7--|
Bb|--x-x---x---x----x---x--x--x-----x-x-x-x--------x---x--x--x--|
F |--8-8--\7-/-8--/10-/12-\8-\7-----8-8-7-8------/10-/12-\7-\5--|
Bb|-------------------------------------------------------------|

After the choruses theres a palm muted open strum..
Felt no need to tab that

Riff into mid section
Db|----------------------------|
Ab|----------------------------|
Eb|----------------------------|
Bb|----------------------------|
F |----------------------------|
Bb|-00000---00000---000003-5-0-|

Middle section

Once again- Weird chords, no strumming pattern is shown
Db|-0----0----0--------0----0----0----0------------------------------|
Ab|-0----0----0--------0----0----0----0------------------------------|
Eb|-6---10----8--------3----6---10----8------------------------------|
Bb|-6---10----8--------3----6---10----8------------------------------|
F |-4----8----6--------1----4----8----6------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|

Lead part second time into it
Db|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
Ab|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
Eb|-10-/12-/13----13\12--6-/8-/10--\8-10-/12-/13--13-/15-\13-\12-8-/10-|
Bb|--x---x---x-----x--x--x--x---x---x--x---x---x---x---x---x---x-x---x-|
F |--8-/10-/11----11\10--4-/6-/-8--\6--8-/10-/11--11-/13-\11-\10-6-/-8-|
Bb|--------------------------------------------------------------------|

Db|-------------------------------|
Ab|-------------------------------|
Eb|-10-/12-/13--13-/15--6-/8-/10--|
Bb|--x---x---x---x---x--x--x---x--|
F |--8-/10-/11--11-/13--4-/6-/-8--|
Bb|-------------------------------|

Repeat parts and you got the meat of the song
Then you go into the long piano part

Tabbed for guitar

Db|-12--10-8--7--5--3--5--7-8-7--0-0---------------------------------|
Ab|----------------------------------3-------------------------------|
Eb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
F |------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|

Db|-12--10-8-7--5----0-----15-14-------------------------------------|
Ab|----------------3-------------15-17-------------------------------|
Eb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
F |------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|

Ending chords
Almost the same as the mid section chords, one chords different (and weird)

Db|-0----0----0--------0----3----0----0------------------------------|
Ab|-0----0----0--------0----3----0----0------------------------------|
Eb|-6---10----8--------3----0---10----8------------------------------|
Bb|-6---10----8--------3----3---10----8------------------------------|
F |-4----8----6--------1----4----8----6------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|

And last but not least...That little distorted slide near the end

Db|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Ab|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Eb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|-10b--/-13v-------------------------------------------------------|
F |------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bb|------------------------------------------------------------------|
Bend the 10 and slide it to 13 give it a slight vibrato

And on that note, thats the whole Sevendust- Burn.
Ill leave you to figure out the exact order because its not difficult :)

i haven't played the entire song using this tab but what i've played, you can use the altered tuning that sevendust uses in a few of their song...it's dropped B (B,F#,B,E,G#,C#)except that the low B string is tuned down a half-step. therefore, the tuning is A#,F#,B,E,G#,C#

You can use that tuning too, i feel that this tuning gives a stronger more powerful feel to the chords.
