The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Original by Ewan MacColl, covered by Stereophonics,
can be found on the Handbags & Gladrags single
It's a really good song!

Verse 1

     D A D
The first time ever I saw your face
              G D
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
                     G D
And the moon and the stars, were the gifts you gave
       C D
To the dawn and endless sky

Verse 2

The first time ever I kissed a woman
I felt the earth move in my head
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird,
That was there on my command, my love

Verse 3
The first time ever I lay with you
I felt the heart so close to mine
I knew our joy would fill the air
And last till the end of time

The first time ever saaaaaaw your face
Your face
Your face
Your faaaaaace

Can you please tell me what you think? It's my first!

I haven't heard the Stereophonics version, but I don't think they could have rewritten the tune that extensively. The original goes something like this

Dm G
The first time ever I saw your face
Am Em F
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
C G C
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
Bb C
To the dark and the endless sky
