Steve Earle - Guitar Town

Intro   G    |    |    |    ||x4

Verse 1
G
Hey pretty baby are you ready for me
                                       C        C  G  D
It's your good rockin' daddy down from Tennessee

I'm just outta Austin bound for San Antone
          C
with the radio blastin' and the bird dog on

G
Speed trap up ahead Selma town
                           C           C  G  D
but no local yokel's gonna shut me down

Cause me and my boys got this rig unwound
           C                                     G*
and we've come a thousand miles from the guitar town.

Int   (G)    |C    |D    |C   G  ||

Verse 2
G
Nothin' ever happened round my home town
                              C            C  G  D
and I ain't the kind to just hang around

I heard someone callin' my name one day
      C                                     G
so I followed that voice down the lost highway

Everybody told me you can't get far
              C         C  G  D
on $37 and a Jap guitar

now I'm smokin into Texas with the hammer down
       C                                     G*
and a rockin' little combo from the guitar town.

Int  (G*)   |C    |D    |C   G  ||

Bridge
D
Hey pretty baby don't you know it ain't my fault
C                             G
Love to hear the steel belts hummin on the asphalt
D
Wake up in the middle of the night in a truck stop
C                          D7
Stumble in the restaurant, wonderin' why I don't stop

Verse 3
         G
Well, I Gotta keep rockin while I still can
                           C         C   G   D
Got a two-pack habit and a motel tan

When my boots hit the boards I'm a brand new man
        C
put my back to the risers and make my stand

G
Hey pretty baby won't you hold me tight
                                   C           C   G   D
I'm loadin' up and rollin' out of here tonight

One of these days I'm gonna settle down
         C                                    G*
and I'll take you back with me to the guitar town

Outro  (G*)   |C    |D    |C   G  ||x2

I submitted this as a chord sheet for guitar and have no way to edit it adapting it for the Ukelele. Thank you to the UG team for adding a Ukelele section, but for the sake of the Ukelele players I respectfully ask that you list this as a separate entry on my profile TABs list so I, or someone else even, could adapt it for Ukelele. Thank you and good luck Uke players

Thanks to Fox-x-x, N-D and the rest of the UG team for their work in adding this section, then making it work. :)
