Subject: TAB:The Joker (Steve Miller)

        This version of "The Joker" is taken from highly reliable source
and differs from the original version at Nevada. Check it out for

        Verse (beginning at 0:02 into the song):

        Tune acoustic guitar down one whole step (low to high: D,G,C,F,A,D).
        In 4/4 time.

           (G)           (C)                 (D)          (C)

            p.m.``|      p.m``|              p.m.`````````````````````````````

          (G)            (C)                 (D)          (C)

             `````````````````|             p.m.```````````````````|let ring
                                         .....and back to (G) in the first bar.
        The chorus (from 0:49 into the song).
        Two rhythm guitars on the recording, here arranged for one:
          G               C                  G               C
                G           C                D            C
        Steve Miller:  "This tune was made up one night out underneath the
stars at a party.  I was stretched out on the hood of an old car, playing
guitar, looking for shooting stars and it just seemed to write itself.  The
slide guitar part is a Fender Stratoscaster plugged into a Manny's fuzztone
box, run through a Hammond organ Leslie speaker set on chorus.  Yeahhh!"
