...ALL IN LOVE IS FAIR... by Stevie Wonder
-------------------------.................

*from 'Innervisions' (1973)*

[Intro]
Dm    Dm/C    A#    G#    Gm    Gm/C

[Verse 1]
               Dm    Dm/C           Bm7b5
All is fair in love; love's a crazy game.
    A#            Am7b5    A7                G13
Two people vow to stay, in love as one, they say.
    Gm/C                Dm        Dm/C            Bm7b5
But all is changed with time; the future none can see.
    A#                Am7b5   D7              Gm  G/A
The road you leave be-hind; a-head lies myste-ry.

[Chorus]
    A7/C#          Dm      Dm/C        Bm7b5
But all is fair in love, I had to go a-way.
  A#m              F/C     A7                G13
A writer takes his pen, to write the words a-gain;
     Gm/C           F
That all in love is fair.

[Verse 2]
A7/C#            Dm           Dm/C           Bm7b5
 All of fate's a chance; it's either good or bad,
  A#                Am7b5   A7                 G13
I tossed my coin to say; in love with me you'd stay.
    Gm/C             Dm        Dm/C          Bm7b5
But all in war is so cold; you either win or lose.
     A#           Am7b5    D7                    Gm G/A
When all is put a-way; the losing side I'll play.

[Chorus]
    A7/C#          Dm                  Dm/C            Bm7b5
But all is fair in love; I should have never left your side.
  A#m              F/C     A7                G13
A writer takes his pen, to write the words a-gain;
     Gm/C           F
That all in love is fair.
  A#m              F/C     A7                G13
A writer takes his pen, to write the words a-gain;
     Gm/C           F
That all in love is fair.

[Outro]
F/D#    A#/D    A7/C#    A7    Dm

guitarists please note:

if you have a "b" in the basic key, it is extremely unlikely to find harmonies based on #'s in the progression. so in this case the A# is in fact also a simple Bb (same key/fret). for a keyboarder it can be extremely annoying to re-adjust the chords that would fit seamlessly in a normal progression just because they are named wrong. it's a bit like looking for the fourth gear of a car, and suddenly finding it under "C+".
(the C# in the A7-chord is actually right though - no rule without exception...) :)
