STRAYLIGHT RUN - Another Word For Desperate
from the album "Straylight Run"
Tabbed by Pete Crosby (bahamut_zero85@hotmail.com)

This song is simply amazing, and it sounds great played acoustic.

Chords used:

       EADGBe
Em (022000)
Bm (x24432)
Csus2 (x35533)
G (355433)
G* (320033)
D/F# (200233)

INTRO:
------
Em Bm Csus2 G (x2)

VERSE 1:
--------
    Em D/F# G*
And all the awkward ways
           Em D/F# G*
that you recoil when I get close
    Em D/F# G*
And oh, the awful grin
               Em D/F# G*
that greets me when I'm all alone

VERSE 2:
--------
   Em D/F# G*
So down on hands and knees,
         Em D/F# G*
choking, gasping, dripping spit
Em D/F# G*
I just can't make good
       Em D/F# G*
on any of these promises

CHORUS:
-------
Em Bm
Then he asked me, "what does that mean?"
Csus2 G
  What's another word for desperate?
Em Bm
 Repetition makes an impression
Csus2 G
 What's another word for desperate?
Em D/F# G* Em D/F# G*
I won't be around here for too very long

VERSE 3:
--------
   Em D/F# G*
So tip the bottle back,
       Em D/F# G*
bubble foam, and watch it break
Em D/F# G*
We can all be sure
          Em D/F# G*
something awful's coming this way

VERSE 4:
--------
   Em D/F# G*
So take this medicine
            Em D/F# G*
and measure doses, take your time
       Em D/F# G*
'cause they'll tear into you
                Em D/F# G*
They will, they will, they will, they will

REPEAT CHORUS (With "I won't be..." line twice)

INTERLUDE:
----------
Em D/F# G* (x4)

    Em D/F# G*
And they'll tear into you
                Em D/F# G*
They will, they will, they will, they will

OUTRO:
------
Em D/F# G* (x2)

Em D/F#
Take it apart and let it all go
G*
Holdin' it back it's all just so...
Em D/F#
Why did I care? How did it go?
G*
Wait for a while and I guess that
Em D/F# G* Em D/F# G*
I won't be around here for too very long (x2)

This sounds absolutely fantastic most of the way. The line is "when I know I'm wrong" rather than "when I'm all alone," and the intro could probably sound better. Other than that this makes a perfect acoustic version.

I love this song, this band, and this tab, but after listening to the song 17 million times, I'm pretty sure the Em should be Em7 (022033) in the verses, and in the chorus, if the Em and Bm are played further up the neck [(x79987) and (799777) respectively), it sounds a little better. But other than those little nit-picky things, it sounds great.
