Back in Your Head (Live) - Tegan and Sara
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tabbed by: americanclassic

This version is based on "Back In Your Head (Live)" on their Live Session EP
(iTunes Exclusive) album, as well as both the 'The Crypt Sessions' performance
on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2sz8BzpWt0) and the KEXP performance
on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOglWEDxAVo).

Tuning: Standard, Capo I

Chords used:

    E Eadd9 B A C#5 C#5* A5 B5
e|--0-----2-----x-----x-----x-----x------x-----x--|
B|--0-----0-----x-----x-----x-----x------x-----x--|
G|--1-----1-----8-----6-----6-----x------x-----x--|
D|--2-----2-----9-----7-----6-----11-----7-----9--|
A|--2-----2-----9-----7-----4-----11-----7-----9--|
E|--0-----0-----7-----5-----x-----9------5-----7--|

x = mute

NOTE: You can totally just use E instead of Eadd9, if you want.

The strumming pattern is down, down, mute, down, down, mute (keep repeating).

So: d d x, d d x, d d x, d d x, d d x

This is easy to hear in "Back In Your Head (Live)" from the Live Session EP album
on iTunes. Their acoustic performances on YouTube are a decent substitute though.

Note: When Sara mutes chords, she uses her left hand to do so. You can watch the YouTube
video I linked above to see this in action, but here's my best shot at a description:

- E and Eadd9: pinky finger - strum down on the chord twice, then rest your pinky
vertically on all of the strings and strum down. This is harder with Eadd9 since you
use your pinky to hold down the high E string, but it just takes a bit of practice.
(This is different from how Sara does it, but my hands are too small get my thumb up
on the low e string like she does.)

- B and A: index finger - strum down on the chord twice, then let up on the strings
a bit so that your index finger is resting vertically all the way down and strum down.

- C#5, C#5*, A5, and B5: middle finger - strum down on the chord twice, then let up on
the strings a bit while resting your middle finger vertically across all of the strings
and strum down.

Intro:

E - Eadd9 - B - A [Repeat x4]

Strumming looks like this:

      E Eadd9 B A
e|--0-0-x--2-2-x--x-x-x--x-x-x--|
B|--0-0-x--0-0-x--x-x-x--x-x-x--|
G|--1-1-x--1-1-x--8-8-x--6-6-x--| [x4]
D|--2-2-x--2-2-x--9-9-x--7-7-x--|
A|--2-2-x--2-2-x--9-9-x--7-7-x--|
E|--0-0-x--0-0-x--7-7-x--5-5-x--|

Verse 1:

Play each chord 4 times (d d x, d d x, d d x, d d x)

C#5 E
Build a wall of books between us in our bed
C#5 E
Repeat, repeat the words that I know we both said
C#5 E
Relax into the need we get so comfortable
C#5 E
Remember when I was so strange and likable

Chorus:

Play each chord once (d d x)

E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I just want back in your head
E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I just want back in your head
E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I'm not unfaithful, but I'll stray

Post-chorus:

Play each chord 4 times (d d x, d d x, d d x, d d x)

C#5* A5
When I get a little scared
                          C#5*
When I get a little scared
                   A5
    When I get a little

Verse 2:

Play each chord 4 times (d d x, d d x, d d x, d d x)

C#5 E
When I jerk away from holding hands with you
C#5 E
I know these habits hurt important parts of you
C#5 E
Remember when I was sweet and unexplainable
C#5 E
Nothing like this person unlovable

Chorus:

Play each chord once (d d x)

E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I just want back in your head
E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I just want back in your head
E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I'm not unfaithful, but I'll stray

Post-chorus:

Play each chord 4 times (d d x, d d x, d d x, d d x)

C#5* A5
When I get a little scared
                          C#5*
When I get a little scared
                   A5
    When I get a little

Bridge:

Play B5 and C#5 twice each and then play A5 4 times. So it'd look like this:
B5: d d x, d d x
C#5: d d x, d d x
A5: d d x, d d x, d d x, d d x

B5 C#5* A5
Run, run, run... Run
B5 C#5* A5
Run, run, run... Run

Chorus:

Play each chord once (d d x)

E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I just want back in your head
E Eadd9 B A E - Eadd9 - B - A
I just want back in your head
E Eadd9 B A
I'm not unfaithful, but I'll stray

E Eadd9 B A
I'm not unfaithful, but I'll stray
E Eadd9 B A
I'm not unfaithful, but I'll stray
E Eadd9 B A
I'm not unfaithful, but I'll stray

Enjoy!
