my guitar teacher jim taught me this
verse:

"crossroads seem to..." each chord gets 5 or 6 strums like this
                  ba ba bababa
verse

e------------------------------------------------------------------|
b------------------------------------------------------------------|
g--1-----------2-------------4-----------2-------1--------2--------|
d--2-----------4-------------6-----------4-------2--------4--------|
a--2-----------4-------------6-----------4-------2--------4--------|
E------------------------------------------------------------------|

the verse goes straight into the bridge/chorus

bridge/chorus
e------------------------------------------------------------------|
b------------------------------------------------------------------|
g--6-----7------9-------11------1------2------4------6-------------|
d--7-----9------11------12------2------4------6------7-------------|
a--7-----9------11------12------2------4------6------7-------------|
E------------------------------------------------------------------|

e------------------------------------------------------------------|
b------------------------------------------------------------------|
g---9--------8-----------------------------------------------------|
d---10-------9-----------------------------------------------------|
a---10-------9-----------------------------------------------------|
E------------------------------------------------------------------|

the bridge sounds wicked awkward.
the way i originally learned it was played on the higher strings with variations on the d chord shpr, rather than klower with an e chord shape
