VERSE 1:
    D Aaug Dm7 Dm6
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in,
    Dm7 Dm6 G7/D

Where it will go __

VERSE 2:
    D Aaug Dm7 Dm6
I'm filling the cracks that ran through the door,
    Dm7 Dm6 G7/D
And kept my mind from wandering.

Where it will go __

       D Asus2 D Asus2 D
And it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong, I'm right, where I belong,

I'm right where I belong.
A E7 A E7
See the people standing there who disagree and never win,
    A E7 A
And wonder why they don't get in my door.

I'm painting the room in a colourful way,

And when my mind is wandering,
              Dm7-Dm6-G7/D Dm7-Dm6-G7/D
There I will go __ Hey, hey!

Notes.
1. This version arose from an attempt to harmonise the melody on an acoustic
without barre chords. It differs structurally from any previous versions in that
it matches the distinct three chord outro on the Instrumental. It also adds some
extra texture to the latter part of each Verse and adds a haunting quality to the
Bridges.
2. The transitional chords 'Dm7-Dm6-G7/D' are successively created by lifting off
one finger at a time from the three-fingered 'Dm7'.

Re: the bridge
Is you want to add some of the nice McCartney melodic bass line with variations on the existing chords here's a suggestion.
for every instance of the Aaug chord in the bridges- after you strum it down once then up once go ahead and change to a standard 1st position A chord by adding the A note on the 3rd string(2nd fret). and strum it the same (once down, once up). You'll hear that you're now using the partial bass notes A,B,C#,E using the top 3 strings.
