Chords in brackets can be played or not, whichever sounds better.

For the choruses, you can hang on an E chord, or try the ones I have written, again,
whichever sounds better. Also, try swapping the bracketed F#s for C#sus4.

[Verse 1]

E E7 A (F#m) C#m (F#)
Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins
F#m7 B7
Silently closing her bedroom door
F#m7 B7
Leaving the note that she hoped would say more
          E E7 A (F#m) C#m (F#)
She goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching her handkerchief
F#m7 B7 F#m7 B7
Quietly turning the backdoor key, stepping outside she is free

[Chorus]

E E7
She (We gave her most of our lives) Is leaving (Sacraficed most of our lives)
E6 E/B E7
Home (We gave her everything money could buy)
C#m F# C#m7
She's leaving home after living alone for so many years (Bye bye)

[Verse 2]

E E7 A (F#m) C#m (F#)
Father snores as his wife gets into her dressing gown
F#m7 B7 F#m7 B7
Picks up the letter that's lying there, standing alone at the top of the stairs
            E E7 A (F#m) C#m (F#)
She breaks down and cries to her husband "Daddy our baby's gone
F#m7 B7 F#m7 B7
Why would she treat us so thoughtlessly? How could she do this to me?"

[Chorus]

E E7
She (We never thought of ourselves) Is leaving (Never a thought for ourselves)
E6 E/B E7
Home (We struggled hard all our lives to get by)
C#m F# C#m7
She's leaving home after living alone for so many years (Bye bye)

[Verse 3]

E E7 A (F#m) C#m (F#)
Friday morning at nine o'clock she is far away
F#m7 B7 F#m7 B7
Waiting to keep the appointment she made, meeting a man from the motor trade

[Chorus]

E E7
She (What did we do that was wrong) Is having (We didn't know it was wrong)
E6 E/B E7
Fun (Fun is the one thing that money can't buy)
C#m F# C#m7
Something inside that was always denied, for so many years (Bye bye)

[Outro]

C#m F# A E
She's leaving home, Bye bye

There are tons of tabs for this song on this site, and it would be nice if at least one of them was correct, rather than a net full of tabs of people playing it how they feel like.

yikes! Just go back to version #1 which now has the chords that are the same as the recording.
