                    London Calling - The Calling

Tabbed by: djura
Email: djura92@yahoo.com

Tuning: standard

You can play regular chords of course, but I prefer these barred ones throughout the song:

   Em F G D
e|-------------------------|
B|-8-----10------12------7-|
G|-9-----10------12------7-|
D|-9-----10------12------7-|
A|-7-----8-------10------5-|
E|-------------------------|

[Intro]

e|-----------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-8-8-8-8----------8----------8----------8------------------------|
G|-9-9-9-9--7-9-9-9-9--7-9-9-9-9--7-9-9-9-9--7---------------------|
D|-9-9-9-9--7-9-9-9-9--7-9-9-9-9--7-9-9-9-9--7---------------------|
A|-7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7-7--7---------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------------|

[Verse]

Em F
London calling to the faraway towns
    G
Now that war's declared and battle coming down
Em F
London calling to the underworld
     G
Come out of the cupboard all you boys and girls
Em F
London calling, now don't look at us
    G
The phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
Em F
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
G
'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing

[Chorus]

    Em G
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
 Em G
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
      Em G
The engines stopped running, but I have no fear
         Em D Em
'Cause London is drowning and I live by the river

[Verse]

Em F
London calling to the imitation zone
G
Forget it, brother, you can go it alone
Em F
London calling to the zombies of death
G
Quit holding out, and draw another breath
Em F
London calling, and I don't wanna shout
    G
But while we were talking, I saw you nodding out
Em F
London calling, see we ain't got no highs
G
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

[Chorus]

    Em G
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
 Em G
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
      Em G
The engines stopped running, but I have no fear
         Em D Em
'Cause London is drowning and I live by the river

   D Em
Oh I, I live by the river yeah

[Outro]

Hi!
I really believe they play it like this:

Em F
London calling to the faraway towns.
Em G
Now war is declared, and battle coming down.

...and so on. They play it differently through the song, but in the beginning i think it is:

7 8 9 9 7 x
8 10 10 10 8 x
7 8 9 9 7 x
3 3 4 5 x x

Looking at this video is a clue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gp6lYQrqSE
Have a listen and see what you think. Cheers! =)

Hey!

That is absolutely correct. However, this is the version that I tabbed:

Give it a listen and tell me what you think. I'm not sure they go back to the Em in the verses, I think it's G all the way through...
