Pretty straight forward song.

Capo 3

G

G
Oh, the desert dreams of a river
          D               C
that will run down to the sea
G
like my heart longs for an ocean
    D             G
to wash down over me.

C                       G
Oh, won't you take me from this valley
C                     D
to that mountain high above?
G                  D
I will pray, pray, pray
Em                       C
until I see your smiling face.
G                  D
I will pray, pray, pray
             G
to the one I love.

Oh, the outcast dreams of acceptance,
just to find pure love's embrace
like an orphan longs for his mother.
May you hold me in your grace.

Won't you take me from this valley
to that mountain high above?
I will pray, pray, pray
until I see your smiling face.
I will pray, pray, pray
to the one I love.

Oh, the caged bird dreams of a strong wind
that will flow 'neath her wings.
Like a voice longs for a melody,
oh, Jesus carry me.

Won't you take me from this valley
to that mountain high above?
I will pray, pray, pray
until I see your smiling face.
I will pray, pray, pray
to the one I love.

I will pray, pray, pray
until I see your smiling face.
I will pray, pray, pray
to the one I love.

Love this song, thanks for the Chords, one change I would make is to the Chorus, I think the Em should be on the word "see" as opposed to the word "until".

Thanks for the chords, this is pretty much how I've been playing it. However, listening to the Acoustic version on the Bare Bones EP, the chords don't seem as straightforward. Anyone have suggestions?

It's just a I, IV, V progression with the exemption of Em. I believe the recorded version on The Civil Wars (not sure about Bare Bones) is in the key of Bb. So exchange these chords:

G = Bb
D = Eb
C = F

The chord change to Em I don't think is necessary.
