The DAA part is better with the first A only with the G and B strings, and then the other A with 3 strings.I saw a video in youtube, Mick Jones playing this song with these 3 chords instead of D and two simple A, I think sounds better, I hope it could help.

There is a youtube video of Mick Jones playing this track to a few lucky folks in what looks like an office or library. The video will answer all your questions. You'll know you have the right clip if you hear some Scottish git shouting over the song on a couple of occasions (no animosity intended, he's loving it).
