   [Verse]
C Dm
Sup up your beer and collect your fags,
C Dm
There's a row going on down near Slough,
C Dm
Get out your mat and pray to the West,
C Dm
I'll get out mine and pray for myself.

   [Verse]
C Dm
Thought you were smart when you took them on,
C Dm
But you didn't take a peep in their artillery room,
C Dm
All that rugby puts hairs on your chest,
C Dm
What chance have you got against a tie and a crest?

   [Chorus]
F G C G Am Am7
Hello-hurray - what a nice day - for the Eton Rifles,
F G C G Am Am7
Hello-hurray - I hope rain stops play - with the Eton Rifles.

   [Verse]
C Dm
Thought you were clever when you lit the fuse,
C Dm
Tore down the house of commons in your brand new shoes,
C Dm
Composed a revolutionary symphony,
C Dm
Then went to bed with a charming young thing.

   [Chorus]
F G C G Am Am7
Hello-hurray - cheers then mate - it's the Eton Rifles,
F G C G Am
Hello-hurray - an extremist scrape - with the Eton Rifles.

   [Bridge]
Em F
What a catalyst you turned out to be,
Em F G
Loaded the guns then you run off home for your tea,
G
Left me standing - like a guilty schoolboy.

Left me standing - like a naughty schoolboy.

    [Verse]
C Dm
We came out of it naturally the worst,
C Dm
Beaten and bloody and I was sick down my shirt,
C Dm
We were no match for their untamed wit,
C Dm
Though some of the lads said they'll be back next week.
