3rd fret seems right for me.., maybe you got another version of the song? This is the lovin' spoonful version, I know at least one other version (dunno who did that). I got the lovin' spoonful one and capo on 3rd is correct with that one.

i've seen a video of lovin' spoonful playing this song. you can see yanovsky playing guitar with a capo on the third
fret... just to clear that up. i didn't see this until the other day, because i thought maybe musicman6107 may have been
correct, but it just didn't sound right to me. so, i looked up a video and i am correct.

The Joe Cocker's version is with capo on the 5th fret.
