[Intro]

C

[Verse]

C Caug/E
I stood alone, upon the platform in vain
                                                Fmaj7
Puerto Ricans they were playing me salsa in the rain
                             C
With open doors and manual locks
   Fmaj7 Caug/E C
In fast food parking lots

[Pre-chorus]

C Caug/E
I headed West, I was a man on the move

New York had lied to me, I needed the truth
     Fmaj7 C
Oh, I need somebody, needed someone I could trust
         Am G6 Fmaj7 C
I don't gamble, but if I did I would bet on us

[Chorus]

C
 Like the Dead Sea
                           Fmaj7
You told me I was like the Dead Sea
                           (C) Am
You'll never sink when you are with me
   G6 Fmaj7 C
Oh Lord, like the Dead Sea
C
Whoa, I'm like the Dead Sea
                          Fmaj7
The nicest words you ever said to me
                (C) Am
Honey can't you see,
               G6 Fmaj7 C
I was born to be, be your Dead Sea

[Verse]

C Caug/E
You told me you were good at running away
                                                Fmaj7
Domestic life, it never suited you like a suitcase
                             C
You left with just the clothes on your back
   Fmaj7 Caug/E C
You took the rest when you took the map

[Pre-chorus]

C Caug/E
Yes, there are times we live for somebody else

Your father died and you decided to live
   Fmaj7 C
It for yourself you felt, you just felt it was time
 Am G6 Fmaj7 C
And I'm glad, cause you with cats, that's just not right

[Chorus]

C
 Like the Dead Sea
                           Fmaj7
You told me I was like the Dead Sea
                           (C) Am
You'll never sink when you are with me
   G6 Fmaj7 C
Oh Lord, like the Dead Sea
C
Whoa, I'm like the Dead Sea
                          Fmaj7
The nicest words you ever said to me
                (C) Am
Honey can't you see,
               G6 Fmaj7 C
I was born to be, be your Dead Sea

[Bridge]

Am Am/G Fmaj7
I been down, I been defeated
                                C Dsus2/A
You're the message I was heeding

Would you stay,
                G
Would you stay the night?

[Chorus]

C
 Like the Dead Sea
                           Fmaj7
You told me I was like the Dead Sea
                           (C) Am
You'll never sink when you are with me
   G6 Fmaj7 C
Oh Lord, like the Dead Sea
C
Whoa, I'm like the Dead Sea
                          Fmaj7
The nicest words you ever said to me
                (C) Am
Honey can't you see,
               G6 Fmaj7 C
I was born to be, be your Dead Sea

I think it's perfect if you tune a full step down, but maybe it's just my voice. Try it if you're having trouble in standard tuning.

In the second Pre-Chorus, you have it written:

Your father died and you decided to live
It for yourself you felt, you just felt it was time

in terms of lyracal stanzas and musical timing it should be:

Your father died and you decided to live it for your-
self, you felt, you just felt it was time

Since the lyric "Self" falls on the first beat of the measure it should definitely be the first word on the line.

I stumbled on that area a few times until I listened to the song and realized it was written slightly off.
