There are two guitars in this song
The electric guitar you hear strumming in the verse
is playing something slightly different.

These are the chords that the acoustic
is playing.

I used the lyrics from the version on Myles Kennedy's Myspace.
I don't know if they're different than the album.

Also, the song is played in
Drop D tuning, but its not really necessary
if you want to play the song.

  D* G Am D A*
|-10-| |-3-| |-0-| |-2-| |-1-|
|-10-| |-3-| |-1-| |-3-| |-1-|
|-11-| |-4-| |-2-| |-2-| |-2-|
|-12-| |-5-| |-2-| |-0-| |---|
|----| |---| |---| |---| |---|
|----| |---| |---| |---| |---|

Intro:
If you are playing in standard EADGBe, the studio version will look like this:

  D Am G D
E|---0h2-2-|-0---0---|-2-0-----|---------|
B|-3-------|---3-1-3-|-------3-|-0-3---3-|
G|---------|---------|-----0---|-----2---|
D|-------0-|---------|---------|-----0---|
A|---------|-----0---|---------|---------|
E|---------|---------|-----3---|---------|

*If you are playing with the low E dropped to D, just play that low G note in the 5th fret.

  D
Flowers placed
        Am
At the foot of the grave
       G D
Of the one we lost forever

 D
Jesus please
         Am
Let her soul rest in peace
          G D
And make way a new angel's in heaven

       D Am
Summergirl went away
       G D
Everything has been dying
       D Am
Summergirl went away
         G D
And the sun doesn't shine

D
All alone
        Am
In the house we called home
         G D
And the walls still echo of her laughter

       D
We'd dream of a world
      Am
Far away we'll never know
           G D
Since she left i don't dream anymore....

       D Am
Summergirl went away
       G D
Everything has been dying
       D Am
Summergirl went away
         G D
And the sun doesn't shine

Bridge:
(D,Am,G,D) x2

Then you play this sequence:

   C9 G D D C9 G

* Focus on the lower notes, but you can "accidentally" hit the strings below to get the effect.
       D Am
Summergirl went away
       G D
Everything has been dying
       D Am
Summergirl went away
         G D* G D*
And the sun and the sun doesn't shiii---------ne
    D*
no more, yeah,
 G
ye---ah
                   D*
oh the sun don't shine no more
                 G A*
every since you went away, oh yeah

End on D
