this is the correct intro to this song; yet another slice of genius from a band who
didn't play their own instruments.....it's definitely a tricky little f---er; listening to
song is penultimate to nailing this riff.

e----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
b----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Amaj for 4 measures (4/4 time)

I'm grateful for you having posted your version of it, because I wouldn't have been able to work it out without using this as a base, but you've over-complicated it slightly. I tried it repeatedly with your version but the rhythm just wouldn't work, so I went back to the record, and listening carefully I reckon that instead of your 4h5p4p0, it's simply 5p4p0
Thanks again though.

The monkees could play their own instruments, so don't say they couldnt. It was just their first record where they couldn't do anything. The record company finally let them play their own instruments and they then recorded headquarters which was all them playing every instrument except for on one song. So don't say they couldn't play their own instruments, because they all came from musical backgrounds.

The Monkees did play on this track... also saw that Peter Tork played the harpsichord on 'The Girl That I Knew Somewhere'.
