The progression is Dsus2, Em, and G.

Actually, its not Dsus. John plays the whole thing omiting the F# from the D major until the end, so playing Dsus2 kind of takes the place of the bass looping E and D when strumming Dsus2. By doing this Dsus2 emits the same airy D and E repetition.

How do you get Em from the song? It's definatley major like the tab says
