Strumming
There is no strumming pattern for this song yet. and get +5 IQ
This is my interpretation of this gorgeous, heartbreaking tune. The original guitar
are a bit weird if you wanna play it and sing a long to the song so I made a tab
for strumming/picking.
I actually think the 4th chord sounds better as an C#m instead of E during the verses
but I like the sound of the open strings there and they are relative major/minor anyway,
doesn't really make a big difference. Hope you like it. It sounds good to me but please
comment if you have anything to add!

Artist: The National
Album: High Violet (2010)

[Verse 1]

A C#m F#m E
Sorrow found me when I was young
A C#m F#m E
Sorrow waited, sorrow won
A C#m F#m E
Sorrow they put me on the pill
A C#m F#m
It's in my honey it's in my milk

[Chorus]

E A C#m
Don't leave my hyper heart alone
       F#m
On the water
E A C#m F#m
Cover me in rag and bones, sympathy
E A C#m F#m
Cause I don't wanna get over you
E A C#m F#m
I don't wanna get over you

E (for one extra measure)

[Verse 2]

A C#m F#m E
Sorrows my body on the waste
A C#m F#m E
Sorrows the girl inside my cake
A C#m F#m E
I live in a city sorrow build
A C#m F#m
It's in my honey, it's in my milk

[Chorus]

E A C#m
Don't leave my hyper heart alone
       F#m
On the water
E A C#m F#m
Cover me in rag and bones, sympathy
E A C#m F#m
Cause I don't wanna get over you
E A C#m F#m
I don't wanna get over you

E A C#m
Don't leave my hyper heart alone
       F#m
On the water
E A C#m F#m
Cover me in rag and bones, sympathy
E A C#m F#m
Cause I don't wanna get over you
E A C#m F#m
I don't wanna get over you

Same chords during the "choir" parts, stay on E for an extra measure and then end on A.

Awesome! I think that F# actually sounds better as an F#m, but that's just me. :S Otherwise, epic job! :)

I agree about the F#m.

Yeah, I of course meant F#m. A major there wouldn't sound good at all. Just testing your ears a bit guys ;)

Haha naah but, glad you like it :)
