Song: Me and My Old Lady
Band: The Offspring
Album: Ixnay on the Hombre

Drop D tuning
e------------------------
B------------------------
G-2-2-0--0-2-2/5-2-2-0-2-
D-2-2-0--0-2-2/5-2-2-0-2-
A-2-2-0--0-2-2/5-2-2-0-2-
E-2-2-0--0-2-2/5-2-2-0-2-

You can also play this riff in power chords if you don't want to bother
with the drop d tuning. I'll put down the chords for that....

  F# F#5 F#/B F# F#5 F#
e------------------------
B------------------------
G------------------------
D-4-4-4--4-4-4/9-4-4-4-4-
A-4-4-4--4-4-4/9-4-4-4-4-
E-2-2-0--0-2-2/7-2-2-0-2-

The timing is probably off but you get the picture right?

Not really close no. If you do wanna play that riff in drop d I guess you could, but it would slide up to 7, not 5. Also, it would slide from 3, not 2. It goes up to F right before it slides up. Also, your second way of doing it just doesn't make sense. I can understand why you may think it's played like this, as it does sound lower on the cd, but that's all just palm mutes. The song is played on the ADG chords for the most part. Except when it switches to A for a bar...
Nice try?
