Intro:
D E D/B E x2

verse:
D E
Oh, to get ahead in this world
D/B
Takes a lot of kind words
E
And ruthless damning actions

And I hope I never have to hurt you
D/B E
Though I gladly will do my friend

chorus:
D/F# E
And I'll be reading in the kitchen
	F#m A
Sipping lazy cups of tea, I won't be
D/F# E
Brooding in my bedroom with the
F#m A
Shutters down on me
         D/F# E
And this song is not cathartic
        F#m A
Because I've done nothing wrong
            D/F# E F#m
It's just a song, it's just a song

verse 2:
D E
Ah, you see the more you're trying
D/B

D E
Well tell me what would you do?

Pulled by both arms, nearly torn in two

chorus:
D/F# E
And I'll be reading in the kitchen
	F#m A

D/F# E
Brooding in my bedroom with the
F#m A
Shutters down on me

ive just realised literally after 5 minutes of posting this that the first E chord in the verse is actually a C#m played:

Something's not quite right about it. I'd put a Dmaj7 in first up instead of a D and I'm not sure about the D/F#. Not got anything better for it as of yet so I can't suggest anything.

Good tab for an excellent song though.

B| 6 6/7 7 7 9 10 9 5 5 5 6 6/7 7 5 7
G| 7 7
